Dr. VanderWaal graduated from the University of Illinois-Chicago Dental School in 2012 and began his career as an associate general dentist in his hometown of Bloomington, IL. After a year and a half, he sought further learning opportunities and obtained a General Practice Residency at the University of Michigan Hospital. This residency helped him gain confidence in working with medically compromised patients, head and neck cancer, oral and IV sedation, special needs, and emergency medicine. The challenging yet rewarding program solidified his passion for comprehensive care. He later worked in a corporate dental office in Chicago, primarily serving patients with public aid insurance, where he honed his ability to provide gold-standard dental care to those who needed it most. In 2019, Dr. VanderWaal and his growing family moved to Houston to be closer to his wife’s family. He built his dental connections from the ground up, working at multiple offices during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is now excited to offer personalized, high-quality dental care to the people of Katy, Texas, combining his broad experience in private practice, public health, and high-needs dentistry. Dr. VanderWaal’s journey has shaped him into a well-rounded dentist who values lifelong learning, patient-centered care, and embracing new challenges. He is deeply committed to providing individualized care to patients of all ages and dental needs.

With over a decade of experience in dentistry, Angela has assisted in everything from extractions and implants to root canals—yet she still finds something new to learn every day. She’s especially known for her ability to put patients at ease, often using a warm smile or a touch of humor to make the dental chair feel a little less intimidating. What Angela enjoys most about working at this office is the strong sense of teamwork and support. She values being part of a group that genuinely cares for one another and always puts patients first. For her, the greatest reward is seeing a patient leave smiling—especially if they walked in feeling nervous. Outside of the office, Angela loves spending time with her family, exploring new parks, baking, or enjoying a good story together. She also stays active through fitness and finds joy in creative outlets like writing and poetry.
